about

It was a *really* productive year. After abandoning all hope of making physical things for a living, I found I had more time to make music, and I decided to make it more of my focus after hours. As a member of Haptic Synapses, I'm lucky to play with two amazing artists who are a constant source of inspiration.

I used to program music on a computer. Program, as in, predetermine the outcome of the song so that it always sounded exactly the same every time I played it.

I started wanting more variation, so I began to heavily route signals in propellerhead reason.

That was fun, but I wanted a drum machine style interface to program beats. So we built Beatseqr.

That was fun, but it just made it obvious how much fun a hardware interface is for controlling parameters of the sound generation.

Eventually Korg started releasing really awesome cheap small music tools that were standalone hardware boxes that could even be battery powered.

One thing leads to another, and somehow I caught the Eurorack Wallet Virus.

So that being said: *all tracks on this alsbum are played in realtime* with *minimal prep + preference towards improvisation*

These experiments aren't all successful. I'm the first to admit that. My process has always been to learn how to control the medium through as much repetition as possible.

So on the whole, I'm happy with this project. There are a few tracks in here that really aren't so bad... ;)
